VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

12 arrested

Police arrested 12 persons in connection with Gossaigaon shoot out incident  today for suspecting involvement with incident and linkmen of NSLA militants.Sunil Kumar, Kokrajhar SP said the Adivasi militants have done the incident due to nonpayment of demanded extortion from contractors of construction. He said strong operation has been carried out in the area against militant outfits and main culprits would be booked,he said adding that  interrogation is on  to the arrested persons.Mentioned be made that three persons were killed on the spot and  another was sustained injured when NSLA militant outfits fired at them at around 11.30 am.

Militant arrested

 Security forces from the 16 Bn SSB apprehended a cadre of Songbijit fraction NDFB identified as Sanjib Basumatary, 28, from Nutun Basti in Chirang district bordering Bhutan late last evening.One 7.65 mm pistol, 5 live round live ammunition, 1 magazine, 3 mobile, 4 SIM card, Rs. 5260 was recovered from him. 

Murmu nomination

Salkhan Murmu of the Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) on Tuesday filed his nomination before the Returning Officer and Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Nithin Khade at Kokrajhar DC office. Murmu, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and founder of JDP is contesting from NO.5 Kokrajhar HPC and with Murmu nomination, two nominations filed till today in Kokrajhar.

NDFB terms Congress as terrorist party

The Songbijit faction of NDFB termed Congress party  as terrorist party because the Government of India(GOI) and Govt of Assam are violating the ground rules of ceasefire done with the NDFB (R) by giving arms and ammunitions to kill the Bodos.In a press statement, B R Ferengga,in-charge of education wing of NDFB while countering twitted by Himanta Biswa Sarma, education and health minister of Assam said that the NDB is not terrorist organization as said Sarma. Body recovered

An unidentified dead body was recovered this evening from Khujaraguri under Bijni police station in Chirang district. The body has been brought to Bijni police station.

Curfew imposed in Chirang

The Chirang district administration has imposed curfew in areas under Bijni and Amguri police station this evening from 6 pm to 6 am tomorrow morning as the situation is turning hot over the brutal killing.Various organizations like the All Bodo Students Union(ABSU), Bodo Women Justice Forum (ABWWF), local NGOS have condemned the inhuman and barbaric incident and demanded immediate arrest and capital punishment of the culprits involved in the crime.ABSU president Promod Boro has condemn the incident. NDFB-R fears riot rerun

Ranjan Daimary faction strongly condemned the Chirang incident where a tribal girl was raped before being murdered.According to the outfit, a particular group has been trying to repeat the 2012 communal clash.NDFB has appealed to the government to punish the culprits and adequate compensation to the deceased family. According to NDRB(R), seven youths of a particular group attacked the two girls. They caught one of the girls while another managed to escape the goons.

Action against Bwiswmuthiary!

The Bodoland Peoples Front has given 48 hours ultimatum to Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary for explanation over his statement of family centric which was why, he was denied ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.Talking to reporters in Kokrajhar BTC deputy chief Kampa Borogoyary said that if he fails to clarify, he would be expelled him from party.BPF leader Biswajit Daimary also expressed serious concern over Bwiswmuthiary's remarks on the party president.

One arrested for extortion in Kokrajhar

One Pradip Basumatary (24) was arrested for extorting money from the shop owners in the heart of Kokrajhar town near Assam Oil Petrol pump on Friday. Police said that two fake NDFB (S) were demanding Rs 17 lakhs from the shop owner.Police sources said that the two extortionists came in Kokrajhar town for collecting money from the shops and had prior information about their movement.Basumatary was arrested and another Daoki escaped from the spot, police said.Police also claimed to have recovered six live ammunition from the person. Basumatary claimed that they had come to collect money from the shops.

NDFB-S alleges surrender drama

The NDFB Songbijit faction denied the three cadres were surrendered before police on Thursday in Guwahati identified as Nal Kumar Narzary @ N Nimangsa(29), Hemanta Narzary @ Lambhu(32), and niran Basumatary Sumpramary @ c Nihat(37) along with arms were not their cadres.
