Career awareness programme

Navodaya Jatiya Vidyalaya, a Guwahati based school had organised a career awareness programme on Saturday for its students along with parents and teachers. This was organised to provide more information on various career opportunities available for the students. Ranjan K Baruah of North East Youth Foundation was the resource person in the career programme. He focused on various career opportunities and skills needed for the private sector apart from government opportunities. “We must follow our passion and choose career accordingly so that we can earn and at the same time contribute for the social transformation in the society”, he mentioned.  He had appealed the participating parents that one must prepare for job but that does not mean that one should keep trying for only government job as private jobs and taking up entrepreneurship are other alternates to be successful in life. There was interaction, activities with students after the talk which made the programme more vibrant. Importance of attitude, life skills, communication skills, etc apart from qualification were stressed to become successful in life. The programme was moderated by Kamdev Deka , Secretary of Navodaya Jatiya Vidyalaya .

The police probing the public comment against Jiten Dutta  have withdrawn the case on Saturday after the former ULFA rebel personally appeared before them with a note of clarification. In a historic move, the Assam government on Friday moved s bill in the legislative assembly to ensure proper care for the elders.  Moving the Bill on the floor senior minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the bill if turned into an Act would make it mandatory for all government employees to ensure proper care for their parents.  “The government would not tolerate negligence to the parents of an employees. A govt employee will have to face action “ said Sarma.  Assam is the first state to have moved such bill aiming at enduring care for the elders.
Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), which were delayed due to floods in many parts of the State, are expected to start shortly and the government has also started work to implement PMFBY during the forthcoming Rabi season.  CCEs were delayed as most of the crop fields were under floodwater. The Dibrugarh police have arrested Akhil Gogoi on Wednesday a day after the RTI activist announced his preparedness to take up arms to safeguard the interest of the people. A team of Dibrugarh police rushed to Golaghat town in the evening and arrested the leader from his own residence.
