FCI beat ASEB, lift Mungkhlong Trophy

Food Corporation of India Sports Club from Guwahati clinched the 17th Daoharu Mungkhlong Trophy-2014 beating Assam State electricity Board Sports Club by 5-3 goals in the final match at Dotma DASA ground in Kokrajhar on Saturday.

The FCI team emerged winner after a thrilling tie breaker against ASEB. Dwimalu Brahma of ASEB scored lone goal against FCI in 46th minutes. FCI’s Mamasa Singh reduced the goal scoring in 48th minutes in the second half and led the match draw 1-1.

Later, the organizers conducted tie-breaker shots where FCI beat ASEB by 5-3 goals and lifted the championship trophy.

BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary gave away the prizes at a brief function. The championship trophy carried cash Rs 50,000. Assam Football Association Hemendra Nath Brahma gave away the runners-up trophy along with cash Rs 25,000 to ASEB.

John Changati of FCI received the best player trophy along with Rs.5, 000 in cash.

Kokrajhar west MLA Pradip Kumar Brahma, BTC members Indra Mahan Brahma, Doneswar Goyary, Laben Basumatary, were prominent among those who were present  in the function.

Expressing serious concern over non implementation of sixth pay commission, 2006 and demanding early release of arrears of the teachers, the All Bodo Primary Teachers Association has decided to boycott classes on March 11 in the region. The association in a press release stated that teachers are not getting implementation of sixth pay commission still today due to insincerity of state govt. and BTC administration, besides teachers are deprived of getting arrears of six months.

BJP is going to contest in all 40 seats in the upcoming BTC council election without any alliance partner. This was declared by senior BJP leader and Sorbhog MLA Ranjit Das while addressing the press on Friday at Kokrajhar. Hundreds of irrigation contractors from four district of the council gheraoed BTC officials including Principal Secretary Anupam Kumar Roy  demanding release of arrear bills in the secretariat of council in Kokrajhar. The contractors alleged that council concern department administration has responded partial and released amounting of several funds among liked contractors of which why large number of contractors deprived their allotted funds. According to contractors there are still pending of 30 crores under 2009-2010 and 139 crores under 2012-13 from irrigation department which was sanction from AIBP scheme, besides huge amounts are not released.
