A group of ministers visited the relief camps in Kokrajhar district during their stock taking visit on Sunday. Comprising Nilmoni Sen Deka, Prithivi Majhi, Nazrul Islam, the group visited Gossaigaon Boys Higher Secondary & Gossaigaon JB School, Sapkata, Raikhunbari, Maktaigaon camps and took stock of the relief measures for the refugees.

Dr Nazrul Islam said that doctors have been working round the clock in the relief camps. He said that the doctors will carry on mobile health services in relief camps. The ministers instructed all the officials to provide every required possibility to the camp inmates & thereby make process to take back the victims to their respective houses with proper security.

A goodwill mission comprising students and social organisations of both the Adivasis and the Bodos is making efforts to instil confidence in the minds of the the affected people by visiting camps. Notably, over a lakhs people have been taking shelter in 45 relief camps.

Election observer visits Chirang

The Election Observer for Expenditure for 31-Sidli (ST) LAC Jaginder Singh, IRS on Tuesday arrived at Kajalgaon in Chirang district. BJP leader quits

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Basumatary is likely to join ruling BPF party within couple of days, said a close aid of Binati. 

NDFNB(S) ultras held

Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja   of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return. Two pistols along with 4 live rounds, a hand grenade and three mobile phones were recovered from them. Mohit Misahary is a cadre of 39 Batch NDFB and trained in Myanmar.

AIUDF leaders demand early declaration of candidates

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. They were identified Sanjib Basumatary, Mirga Basumatary and Charan Basumatary. Fakiragram bazar turn into ashes

Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. Various types of shops in the bazar which included medical store,hardware,clothes,grocery,stationary,fruits were completely burnt in the fire that started around 12.45 am in the last night.
