KDSA felicitates Mt. Everest climber

Kokrajhar district sports association (KDSA) and well wishers felicitated Dr Jagadish Basumatary, a member of Assam Everest Expedition-2015 from BTAD region who is scheduled to climb Mount Everest from Assam on and from April 4 next today at KDSA complex at a function in Kokrajhar. 

The KDSA members,social organisations including self help groups (SHG) felicitated Dr Basumatary with traditional Aronai,bunch of flowers and wish grand success in his destination and prayed to the almighty. Dr Basumatary, a physician by proffesion is also a member of the expedition of 11 members from across the state who are scheduled to climb Mount Everest from Assam from April 4 next said that eleven members of the state are climbing the mount everest and their journey will start from Guwahati to Nepal, expected their destination will be completed of climbing 29, 000 feets of Mount Everest by first week of June next. He said that state team will score successful step and peoples will get knowledge of climbing situation through the event. 

He told that he has experience of hill climbing as he had climbed other hills in the country and expected this time's everest will give a vast experience in his life and he confident that all members will meet healthy successful in climbing.

Among others,Saradha Prasad Paul,secretary of KDSA,noted sports organiers Simson Mushahary,Nikunja Brahma were also present on the function.

Hours after the Dibrugarh police arrested three ACS officers in the cash for job scam, DGP Mukesh Sahay gave hint of action against a few other officers who allegedly procured job for money. Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Sahay said the probe into the scam was moving in right direction. Early in the morning police arrested Amitjyoti Mahanta, Bhaskarjyoti DevSarma and Bhaskar Das to be brought to Kahilipara where a team of police officer is interrogating the trio. Amid the probe in the job for cash scam in the Assam Public Service Commission, police have arrested three newly appointed ACS officers on Wednesday alleging their involvement. Identified as Bhaskarjyoti Dev  Sharma, the circle officer of Helem in Biswanath Chariali was picked up by police early in the morning. The Jamiat Ulems-I-Hind has submitted a set of papers in support of the cut off year in the Assam Accord, 1985 before the Supreme Court which is hearing a set of petition from May 8. An anti corruption cell on Tuesday arrested a senior police officer on bribery charges suggesting non stop extortion on traders by a circle of police officers. Identified as Biman Roy, the Boko police station officer in charge was questioned by the vigilance officials in Guwshati before he was arrested acting on the confessional statement of inspector Bokul Chetia who was held on bribery charge a couple of days back.

Senior Congress leader and former minister Bijit Saikia is dead at the age of 78leaving a pall of gloom in the state’s political scene. Saikia, who was a minister in the Hiteswar Saikia cabinet died at the Down Town Hospital in Guwahati on Tuesday where he was undergoing treatment for a couple of weeks. The Dispur police have arrested a youth in Guwahati a couple of days after he in  social media threatened to shoot dead Akhil Gogoi. Identified as Nilotpal Baruah, he was arrested by a team of Dispur police acting on a complaint lodged by KMSS. Police interrogation is in progress and the youth is believed to have confessed it.
