Chennai Rongali Bihu on Apr 18

The Assam Association Chennai is organizing this year's Rongali Bihu festival in Chennai on April 18 at Central Leather Research Institute campus, Adyar. All Assamese community people staying in Chennai will be together to showcase the Assamese tradition on this day. During this occasion, Assam Association will showcase various Assamese traditional cultural program including Husori, Jeng Bihu, Khol Badon, Jhumur and many other folk singing & dance. Traditional assamese instrument like Dhol, Pepa, Taal etc will be playing during this cultural evening. Souvenir of the association, “Cauvery” also will be released on the same evening. 

The Assam Association Chennnai, looking forward the support and presence of all assamese & non-assamese people staying in chennai to make this event successful. Mamoni an elephant at Kaziranga giving her contribution to Kaziranga National Park for last 12 year on Wednesday morning died after 1 month painful infraction. The 32 year old elephant was giving her effort for KNP tourist & other activity as a safari from last 12 years. The owner of the elephant Dilip Das informed that the elephant was suffering from some infection from last one month.The doctor of the elephant Dr. Trikendrajit Hazarika told that she was felled quite well few days before but at last she died because of pain, cold & infection.

One more Rhino killed on Wednesday evening at Mandir Chapori under Golaghat forest range. Poachers killed the rhino & take out the horn. After getting the report of shooting, the forest gaurds from Bonkuwal forest range reached the spot and seen a 4-member group of poachers running away crossing the Brahmaputra towards Gahpur. This was the third rhino killed in this month. Last week one rhino was killed in Bijbali Chapori area in the Burhapahar forest range of the Kaziranga National Park.
