Assamese travel fiction released

It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.

The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

The Assam assembly is all set to resume its budget session on Monday where the Balajan bloodbath is set to put Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in a fix. Congress and AUIDF members on the floor are fully prepared to bring an adjournment motion to discuss the bloodbath in Balajan where 14 people were killed and several others sustained injury. But BJP, AGP and BPF members are unlikely to allow it to happen. The allegations of inadequate flood relief materials are also set to be raised in the assembly. Notably, the assembly was adjourned for a couple of days in view of the flood scene where 38 people died and 20 lakh affected in 24 districts.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condemned the firing and bombing on the common people by militants in Kokokrajhar on Friday.Sonowal, who was on a stock taking visit to Kokrajhar on Sunday said that the trouble mongers would be spared. Accompanied by DGP Mukesh Sahai, the chief minister also interacted with the family members of the deceased who broke down in tears as Sonowal rose to console them. A delegation team of Congress party led by Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora, CLP leader Debabrata Saikia visited Kokrajhar and took stock about firing incident at Balajan Tinali bazar in Kokrajhar. A small book titled Borjhar Biman Bandarar Adi Aru Aji comprising the local history of Borjhar area at the outskirt of Guwahati was released at Guwahati Press Club on Saturday. The booked written by Gauri Kanta Nath, a local resident of Borjhar area is published by Dipak Sarma on behalf of Pragjyoti Prakashan, south Kamrup. The government on Saturday claimed to have identified the perpetrators in the Balajan bloodbath where 14 people were killed in a reign of terror at an open market. According to government sources the neutralized perpetrator was none other than Manjay Islari who along with a few others unleashed the reign of terror with firing and bombing on the common people in the open market. Meanwhile, a 6 member NIA team is taking the statements of the eyewitnesses amid an intensified counter insurgency operation. The army, police and para military forces have been expanding the operation area to the neighbouring BTAD district to trace down the culprits who managed to flee from the spot.
