The Meghalaya police on Wednesday rescued two students from Assam 3 days after they were kidnapped from West Garo hills. Identified as Liakat Ali and Mosassar Hossain, the minors were rescued from Balapara village near Ampati in South West Garo Hills.
“They were rescued from Balapara village on Wednesday”, said Aditya Goenka, superintendent of police from South West Garo Hills. He said that the abductors left the victimsas police had intensified their combing operations along the area.
The abduction of the duo led to widespread protest in Kalapani with public mounting pressure on the Assam police. The Assam police initiated follow up with its counter part in South West Garo Hills and managed to rescue Ali and Hossain.
