Muslim body slams BJP MP

A huge Muslim organization in Golaghat district on Tuesday slammed Ramen Deka a day after the BJP MLA criticized the Muslim intellectuals for not raising voice of protest against the recovery of beef at the premises of a temple in Silchar.   

In a statement, the organization accused the Mongoldoi MP of trying to strike communal clash in the state.  The organisation further warned the BJP leader not try to destroy the age old communal harmony.

BJP campaigns for BTC election

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has gained it's campaigning in BTC region for their candidates to the scheduled April 8 next council polls. 

Siddarthaa Bhattacharya, president of Assam state BJP campaigned at Sakti Ashram ground for Fakiragram candidate Dilip Barman and Bibuti Bhusan Borogoyary from Dotma, Salakati for Malati Rani Narzary, Mijink Nwgwr for Samarendra Brahma for Debargaon and Manoj Kumar Brahma for Banargaon constituency. 

Bhattacharya alleged that BPF ruled BTC administration has failed while proving safe and security to the common publics in the region.He has also said that BPF had corrupted all public development funds allotted from centre for the welfare in its decade long reigned and they have built their building,but not for the peoples of the council of which why peoples are suffering from various fronts of development.

Bhattacharya has claimed that there is no doubt as his saffron party has been winning in large number of seats in the election and council would be formed by sagffron party.

Among others,BJP candidates from Banargaon Manoj Kumar Brahma,Samarendra Brahma from Debargaon constituency was also present in the campaign rally.

Train dacoity on Jogighopa-Kamakhya route in Goalpara District

Several passengers were injured and jewellery and cash worth several thousand rupees was looted in a train dacoity held in the general compartment of Guwahati bound Jhajha Express between Dudhnoi and Rangjuli stations in Goalpara District on the Jogighopa-Kamakhya route in the mid night of last Saturday.

The train dacoity incident on Jogighopa-Kamakhya route has raised serious questions on passengers' safety and security in moving trains. The irony is that the loot incident lasted for about half an hour but the security personnel manning the train did not reach the crime scene, passengers complained.

The group of 8 dacoits who came with gun and sharp weapons attacked the passengers travelling in the general coach of the train with knife and forcefully took out the money and mobile handsets from passengers. Even women were not spared and their jewellery were snatched. The harrased passengers narrated their woeful tale when the train reached Rangjuli Station. Raids were on in the area to apprehend the miscreants.

Technology Showcasing started in Nagaon

Showcasing of Improved Agricultural technologies, a noble concept pioneered by the Assam Agricultural University has already started in Nagaon district with free distribution of seeds of “Ranjit” variety of rice in Raha and Phulaguri on the 29th May last. Under the programme 100 ha area of land in the district are selected, which are adjacent to the Highways and Roadsides where the technologies will be showcased with an objective to harvest 30 md of paddy/bigha(9.0 t/ha). All the inputs viz., seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals will be supplied to farmers free of cost. Addressing the gathering of around 150 farmers, Dr. T.P.Saikia, Programme Co-ordinator, KVK, Nagaon urged upon the farmers to adopt the improved agril. technologies developed by the University for a better and quality yield of crops. He also explained the objectives of the Technology Showcasing programme to be implemented by the Assam Agricultural University from the current Sali season. The gathering was also addressed by Dr. B. Barman, Chief Scientist of the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Shillongani. Altogether 12 quintals of “Ranjit” variety of rice were distributed to 121 farmers of Raha and Phulaguri. The meeting was also attended by Dr. H. Kalita, Principal Scientist of RARS, U. K.Deka, SMS and Jayanta Dutta, Farm manager of KVK. Agril development Officers viz., Bhabani Nath and Mukul Bharati Nath also attended the meetings at Raha and Phulaguri, respectively. The students of the final year B.Sc. (Agri) course of AAU undergoing RAWE Programme at Raha attended the meeting and cooperated with the scientists in seed distribution.

On the June 1, altogether 33 quintals of “Ranjit” seeds of rice were distributed to 50 farmers of Amtala and Milikbasti near Hojai who are participating in the programme. On this occasion a meeting was also organized in the premises of Sub-divisional Agril Office, Hojai which was presided over by Sankar Chakraborty, District Agriculture Officer, Nagaon and was attended by Dr. B.Barman, Chief Scientist, RARS and Dr. T.P.Saikia, Programme Co-ordinator, KVK. Dr. A.K.Dey, Ex-Minister of Agriculture, Govt. of Assam also graced the occasion. Dr. Biswajit Guha, Principal Scientist of the Regional Agril Research Station, Shillongani elaborately described the methods for Seed treatment, preparation of nursery bed and sowing of seeds including nutrient management and plant protection. Officers from the Agril deptt and KVK Scientists also took part. The programme ended with offering of vote of thanks by H. Kalita, Senior ADO, Hojai.
