The Gauhati High Court has asked the government to clear two animal corridors of the Kaziranga National Park within two months which will affect over 350 families. Hearing a PIL by Mrinal Kumar Saikia, a division bench of the court acting Chief Justice K Shredhar Rao and Justice PK Saikia asked the government to clear Bandordubi and Deusurchang from illegal settlers within two months.
According to government document, Bandordubi area alone has at least 168 families in addition to 190 other families are residing in Deusur area. Despite the court order for clearing the areas the government failed to follow it citing technical and natural reasons.
