FInally, Goa FC beat the North East United FC 3-1 in the Indian Superleague clash at the packed Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai on Thursday. The home team continue to stay at the bottom of the table after their third loss. Goa FC have gone up.

College alumni meet in Ziro

Saint Claret College in Ziro is celebrating the second Alumni Meet (SCAN – Saint Claret Alumni Network) on October 17 along with Gastronomia Food ‘NFun Fest and Claretian Universal Mission Day. 

All graduates of SCCZ and the staff who served at SCCZ for a minimum of one completed academic year are invited to attend. The rank holders at the 2015 RGU examinations will be honored and inducted into the SCCZ Hall of Fame on the day.

 

Pall of gloom in Golaghat

Pall of gloom descends in Golaghat following the untimely demise of Prabin Gogoi on Monday. AGP leaders along with many local organizations and individuals thronged the former minister’s residence at Chandan nanagar and deeply condoled his death.

AGP President Atul Bora, AASU Assistant General Secretary Manowar Hussain, BJP Golaghat District President Debajit Bora, Senior journalists Apurba Ballav Goswami and Rohit Gogoi along with several others have conveyed their deep sympathies to the bereaved family. The local residents said that they will remain grateful to Gogoi for his untiring effort to ensure sustainable development of the district. His contribution is best in the sport corner of the district.  

Apurba Balllav Goswami told Assam Times that his death is a great loss for regionalism and also for the society. 

Zeliang quits as Nagaland CM

Bowing down to the pressure mounted on him by the protestors, TR Zeliang is learnt to have put in papers as Nagaland chief minister on Friday. The huge development took place immediately after Zeliang and governor OB Acharya arrived in New Delhi on Thursday evening. They duo met union home minister Rajnath Singh where they apprised the Centre of the on going impasse following the indefinite shut down call by the civil society organizations in protest against the 33 per cent reservation for women.
