A pall of gloom grips Assamese community in New Delhi following the sudden death of an officer posted at the Assam Bhawan in the capital city on Friday. He was none other than Dipankar Biswas who suddenly died at cardiac arrest in the wee hours. Many people from the north eastern state have deeply condoled his death and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has taken a significant step by issuing a notice in the Special Leave Petition (Crl) No. 7929/2023, directing it to the Assam Government regarding the PIL/86/2021. This petition was filed by advocate Arif  Jwadder. Renowned lawyer and activist, Prashant Bhushan, represented the case in court today. Clause VI panel feels let down, report sent to department

New Delhi: In a major setback for the BJP-led coalition government in the state,  the Centre is unlikely to endorse the recommendations of the panel set up to suggest the implementation of the Clause VI of the Assam Accord,  1985.
