5th Jeevan Kite & River Festival kicks off

The 5th Jeevan Kite & River Festival kicks off with the theme‎ "Brahmaputra Campaign‬"  from January 1, 2016.  This campaign is an effort to connect the urban generation with the river. The event will continue till January 7 at Rajaduwar Ghat, near Sukreswar Park, Guwahati. Kite flying, adventure sports, cultural shows are some attractions of the event.

A book penned by an Assamese technocrat turned writer AK Pathak was released at Guwahati Press Club on 28 January 2016. Eminent Assamese author and former Asom Sahitya Sabha president LN Bora released the book titled Mizo Tawng Made Easy, where the writer made an effort to make Mizo language understandable for a non-Mizo reader. Bora also pointed out that the primary language of Mizoram should be announced as a modern Indian language. Anchored by Ms Alaka, the meeting was also addressed by writer Pu Pathak AK, journalist Nava Thakuria, resident commissioner of Mizoram House in Guwahati Lian Sang Zuala Chhakchhuak with the field secretary Rev H Lalhming Mawia.
2nd edition of "Brihot Tai Jati - Ahom Buranji", a book on the Ahom kingdom written by historian, lawyer and social worker Late Rameswar Bora of Jorhat, was released by by Dr. B.K. Gohain, Administrator, Scholar and Vice Chairman of Sukapha Kalakhetra Samaj, Jorhat at Guwahati on Monday.  Kiran K Gogoi, writer and lawyer and past President of All Assam Ahom Sobha was present as the chief Guest along with family members of Rameswar Bora. Dr Bhupen Hazarika's "Ei Prithibi Ek Krirangan" has been adpoted for the anthem of The South Asian Games 2016 to be held from February 5.
