Nehru Yuva Kendra Nalbari is organising an Adventure Camp at Hajo Rock Field from February 8-12, 2016. Around 25 participants from different youth clubs and other organisation like NCC from Nalbari, Dhubri and Barpeta districts are participating and undergoing a training program under Assam Rock & Sport Climbing Association(ARSCA). Tarun Saikia, the first mountaineer from Assam to scale Mount Everest successfully is training the participants on Rock climbing, Bouldering, Rappelling, Chimney climbing and Trekking. Among the other instructors Mr. Badan Das, Alpana Bordoloi, Arupjyoti Choudhury and Biswajyoti Hojai from ARSCA are taking sessions on trekking manners , introduction to equipments, knot practice etc.
Promotion of Adventure is one of the significant and important components of the National Programme for Youth Adolescent Development (NPYAD) scheme under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.The adventure activities are planned to create and foster amongst the youth a spirit of risk taking, cooperative teamwork, the capacity of ready and vital response in challenging situations and inculcating spirit of nature appreciation with emphasis on ecology and conservation of natural resources. This also provides a creative and happy outlet for the abundant energy, enthusiasm and imagination of youth. This scheme intends to serve the first generation learners and non-student youth both in urban and rural areas.
Besides these, during the Adventure Camp an everyday Cleanliness Drive activities has been undertaken by the participants and special sessions on National Flagship Programmes like Atal Pension Yojana, Swacch Bharat, MUDRA Bank, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana,Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana etc for educating and motivating the participants so that the youth can benefit from the programme.
