A herd of wild elephants created havoc in Rajapara area near the Indo-Bhutan border of Udalguri district on Monday morning last. Wild Tusker damaged the walls and ate paddy stocks in the house of one Mahendra Deka. Two other commercial shops at Nalapara chowk area were also damaged by the Tusker. Though forest officials were informed about the matter they had turned deaf ear to it alleged the local residents. It may be mentioned that from the last few years Man-Elephant conflict has taken worst turn in the district due to unabted deforestation by unscrupulous people and encroachment of forest lands under the very nose of forest officials.
