Congress merged into regional party in Arunachal Pradesh

In a significant political development and also a major setback for the Congress party in Centre the newly formed congress government under the leadership of Kalikho Pul along with all other 29 congress legislators merged into lone regional political party of the Arunachal pradesh ‘People Party of Arunachal’ (PPA) here today.

After all formalities with Speaker and the Chairman PPA, Kameng Ringu at State Assembly CM Pul   congratulated the people of the state for having a second time regional political party under PPA. ‘No more pressure of Party high command or have to run Delhi for every decision, people have mandate us and we have to work and listen to them said Pul while assuring to carryon all the development activities in the state.

While responding to the query on what made him to take such bold decision to join PPA having an option to join BJP, Pul divulged that during last 13 months of tug of war for change in leadership and fight against corruption he met most of the big Central Congress leaders from Gulam Nabi Azad and Naraynasami to AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi but they never heard the grievances instead supported those who illegitimately suspend, expelled and disqualify own congress workers, he reasoned.

Moreover, Cong Vice President, Rahul Gandhi said that with Mrs Sonia Gandhi, he will take decision on leadership, whereas as per norms CM is been choose by the legislators of the party, he added  while informing that BJP may continue their outside support or  also can be part of the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman PPA K Ringu welcomed the new move and expecting new development in the state under Kalikho Pul leadership. ‘I have always been against High Command culture so I welcome this empowering decision of Pul & new PPA members and this  govt must ensure equitable growth of all tribes and regions without any caste creed or religion’ added Ringu.

Meanwhile, BJP legislature Party welcomes political merger of Congress MLAs led by Chief Minister Pul into PPA and also resolved to form an alliance with the newly formed PPA government. 'Since it’s a non-Congress govt, we will join the  government, however we will not bargain as the idea is only to work for betterment of the masses said BJP legislature Party leader, Tamlyo Taga.

With this development, ‘Maize (PPA symbol) replaced Hand’ (congress symbol) once again in the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh. This is the second time that lone regional party formed its government in the state after 1989.
