BPF leaves three more seats to BJP

The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has left three constituencies- Sorbhog, Rangia and Bhawanipur to the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), its ally party.

Talking to Reporters in Kokrajhar at the sideline of an election rally for the 30 Kokrjhar East candidate Pramila Rani Brahma in Koktrajhar town,  BPF president and BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said ‘yes we have decided to leave the three seats to the BJP.  We are not fielding candidates in these three constituencies, he said adding that the party will now contest in 13 constituencies in the BTAD region. 

The BPF have earlier announced party candidature in 16 constituencies, including in these three constituencies.

Mohilary said as the two parties have entered into alliance, it is for the good of both the parties to leave the seat. It will ensure our winning instead of sharing our votes which will help the oppositions, he said.

Mohilary also said the party is winning in all the 13 constituencies. He also said the BPF will campaign for the BJP and the BJP for the BPF candidates.

In another development, the Kokrajhar mondal of the BJP have decided to go against the party and announced of fielding candidate from Kokrajhar East constituency.  

Talking to Reporters at the party office here today, president of the Kokrajhar town mondal of the BJP Ajay Kumar Narzary said we have no potion but to field candidates as wished by our party workers and supporters.

‘Our people cannot go with the UPP who are tied up with the Congress nor can we vote for Pramila Rani Brahma, the BPF candidate. So we have decided to field own candidates, he said.

Narzary name himself as the party candidature.
