In a major breakthrough the Anti-Drug Campaign Team comprising of Namsai Police personal, All Tai Khampti Singpho Students Union (ATKSSU), All Namsai Area Youth Association (ANAYA) and Namsai District Students Uinion (ANDSU) has apprehended a drug peddler with 7.2 gm (approx) of contraband drugs at Manfaiseng Village under Namsai Circle on May 30 last.
The joint operation was carried out as part of the anti-drugs campaign and was led by Namsai P/S OC Lod Tari, General Secretary ATKSSU Chow Khamoon Manpoong, ANAYA General Secretary Chow Rajana Manpoong and ANDSU General Secretary Chow Shotiky Hopak. The fight against drugs and abusive substances has been carried out since time to time by the anti-drug campaign team to make the Namsai district drugs free zone.
As per information received from a reliable source, the Anti-Drug Campaign Team reached the village and raided the house of Chow Chamtham where 7.2 gms of contraband drugs were found from the possession of his wife.
A case (FIR no 59/16) have been registered under NDPS Act, Sec 21 (b) against the culprit and on further investigation it was revealed that the supply has been coming from Udaipur Village under Diyun Circle, Changlang Ditrict and is considered the main hub of drugs market in the area.
The anti-drugs campaign team in a joint statement has said that such kind of drugs related crimes have been rampantly growing in the area which also gives birth to other criminal activities resulting in loss of life many times. As obliged to the society since a very long time, the team is doing the very best to fight against such social evils and has requested the state government to look in the matter with great concern and demanded from the local administration to employ and deploy the SIB to trace out the main supplier and dealer of the area and put to justice.
The members of ATKSSU, ANAYA and ANDSU have extended their gratefulness to the Namsai P/S OC Lod Tari and his team for their constant effort and guidance in apprehending the drugs peddlers in the district. The members also requested the local populace to be more vigil concerning the issue, as citizens, we all have an obligation to intervene and become involved- it’s the citizens and their collective effort that can change things.
