Couple held for trafficking
A couple was apprehended from Karigaon under Kokrajhar PS for allegedly human trafficking cases by Nedan NGO and AASAA activists on Wednesday.
According to police,the couple was arrested when they reach along with trafficked girl to return her at Karigaon,who trafficked girl in October last year.
The couple was identified as Ramesh Yadav and Chumki Murmu,hailed from Islampur of Dinajpur of West Bengal state.The couple has been involved with human trafficking from the region since few years back, a NGO activist in Kokrajhar.
‘Interrogation is on them and expected more inputs about trafficking will become out’, said an AASAA activist.

Barama football Club (FC), Baksa lifted the 3rd BTC-Army football league trophy defeating the Kokrajhar Blues by 1-0 in the final match held at KDSA stadium ground in Kokrajhar on Sunday.
For Barama FC, Pingkul Basumatary scored lone goal against Kokrajhar in 45 minutes of the first half which led the team to win the football league and lifted the championship trophy. The final match created strong sporting amusement among the spectators.

A Bathou Prayer and candle lighting programme was organized at Bathou Thansali in Kokrajhar on Saturday evening to offer prayer for CRPF jawans who lost their lives in militants attack at Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir on February 14 last.

Kokrajhar police arrested five cattle smugglers along with a truck of cows from Karigaon national highway on Thursday morning in Kokrajhar district.
The cattles were illegally brought to South Salmara from Dinajpur Sonapur of West Bengal in a truck, bearing registration AS01GC-2244.
An FIR has been lodged with police in this regard. The arrested persons are identified as Ashadat Jaman (38) of Pundimari , WB, Anisu Jaman (42) of Mankachar South Salmara,Kurshed Alom Ranjipura, Uttar Dinajpur WB, Najimuddin Ahmed (23), Sipajhar Darrang, Tahed Alom, Punjipara Uttar Dinajpur WB.
Nearly 7000 students are appearing in the HS final examination which beings from Tuesday in 25 centres across the Kokrajhar district.
