In a bid to update students with job options and opportunities a one day workshop on “job and self employment opportunities” was held at Bajali College on 6th September. This was organised by the Placement Cell in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college. Workshop was conducted by noted career counselor cum mentor Ranjan K Baruah. Dr Manoj Kr Mahanta, Principal of the college inaugurated the workshop and appealed the students to be ahead of the others in the age of competition. Arindam Talukdar, coordinator of IQAC mentioned about the importance of such workshop and the reason for organising the same in association with the placement cell. Resource person of the workshop outlined various opportunities and scopes existing in government and private sectors. He also focused on various important skills like life skills and employability skills and skills required to be an entrepreneur and to start own venture and how to be employed in the competitive world. “Instead of just waiting for opportunity, we must be ready to create opportunity for ourselves, with academic skills, positive attitude with passion and strategically planned career planning any one can be successful in life, said Mr. Baruah. Students from different streams of the college participated in the workshop with enthusiasm apart from faculty members. Anchored by Ritu Baruah, coordinator of the Placement Cell the workshop was interactive as different questions were asked by the students. Students asked about career options and available job opportunities which were replied by the resource person. Bajali College has been organizing similar programme for the benefit of the students’ community.
