Tax dept seizes goods in Kokrajhar
Staff and sales tax inspectors from Superintendent of taxes, Kokrajhar made a surprise checking initiative against in voiceless goods carrying out via trains in Kokrajhar from West Bengal state.
Traders and business men carries goods like clothes, toys, disposal glass, dishes from neighboring West Bengal state markets through trains without paying any taxes for business purposes.On Friday,taxes department official and staffs under the leadership of Manaj Pandey, Sales Tax Inspector made surprised checking and seized five Thelas which were brought without taxes.The seizure goods’ market value would about 22,000.
Pandey told that taxes department has been carrying checking against who brought goods without paying taxes for which why government has been losing taxes in the state. We tuned fined to the found goods that were deceit taxes to gain their business purposes,he added.

Kokrajhar: A section of angry residents in Kokrajhar thrashed a ration dealer accusing him of resorting to unfair deal with the beneficiaries. The incident took place on Friday where a group of beneficiaries from Ghoskata village caught the dealer Budu Brahma alias Sahen Basumatary and charged him of deliberately doing anomalies in the distribution of rations through cooperative societies where the real beneficiaries were reprieved. KOKRAJHAR:Yet another NDFB-S rebel has landed in police dragnet who was arrested in Baksa district on Saturday. Acting on a tip off, Balsa police launched a sudden operation at Bennabari area where the rebel, identified as Rabiram Swargiary, was arrested. Police further claimed to gave seized a hand grenade from his possession. NALBARI: Six persons of a family were killed when the car in which they were travelling slipped into a deep gorge in Nalbari district on Saturday. The incident took place in the afternoon when the entire family members were on their way back to home after visiting a relative. As the car reached Balikuchi area, the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle which slipped into the gorge which was deep. There was no survivor. Local residents and police came to rescue them. But nobody was found alive.
KOKRAJHAR: The All Adivasi Students Association of Assam has alleged political patronage behind the recent shoot out in Bogidhola tea garden where 12 workers hurt in firing by the owner. Talking to reporters in Kokrajhar on Saturday, AASAA president Stephen Lakra said without political support or behind powerful minister and MLA the owner could not have gone to that extent. KOKRAJHAR: A mysterious death of a woman in Kokrajhar no less spreads sensation in Sesapani area from Monday morning. The Adivasi women was found dead in a house where she has been staying for the last three days. Police rushed to the house where the mother of two children was found dead under mysterious circumstances. But by then Insaf Ali, in whose house the woman stayed vanished. Local residents called it an incident of killing since Insaf had an illecit affair with the Adivasi woman who worked with a tea garden.
