Dukheswar Koch remembered

Rabha Sihitya Sabha and Rabha community recalled contributions of Dukjeswar Koch, founder president of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha towards literary field, on his 36th death anniversary at Magurmari High School in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. As part of progarmme scheduled,literary organizer and participants paid floral tribute to late Dukheswar Koch in the early morning, was organized by Reception Committee of Dukheswar Koch Death anniversary observation.

Mentioned be made that Dukheswar Koch was born in 1902 at Magurmari and died in 1980.He was a noted writer and founder president of Rabha Sahitya Sabha.

A memorial lecture on Dukheswar Koch was organized to mark the anniversary with Baren Chapar in the chair.

Amarsingh Koch, president of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha, Manabendra Rabha,president All Rabha Jatiya Parishad, Dhwajendra Nath Brahma, president of Kokrajhar district unit Bodo sahitya sabha, Indra Mahan Koch,noted social worker were prominent attendees on the occasion.

Amarsingh Koch, president of Rabha Sahitya Sabha said that Rabha community in the state is still today deprived in all fronts of aspects and developmental like education, social uplift.

‘Though Rabha community has own culture and language, but no medium of instruction, even though community organizations have been place demands for educational expectations in the state’, Koch said.

He has put demands of early creation of medium of instruction in the state to give proper development and integration as other communities are getting educational and social uplift. He disclosed that Rabha community organizations met Chief Minister and governmental officials to put pressure over granting medium of instruction in schools, but no any response was reached so far to the demands.

He has warned to take mass agitation if their demand and issues are meeting in earliest manner in days to coming.

A souvenir was also brought out on the occasion to mark the observation.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
