Sukumar Basumatary remembered
The Bodo Sahitya Sabha recalled contributions of late Sukumar Basumatary,who is regarded as Bodo folklorist(Bodo Khuga Thunlaini Oja) towards growth of Bodo literary, on his 20th death anniversary on Tuesday. The anniversary was organized by Bodo Sahitya Sabha central committee in association with Baksa district Sahitya Sabha, held at Barama Murmela LP School ground in Baksa district.
As part of the programme scheduled, Jogen Ramchiary, president of Barama primary Bodo Sabha hoisted half sabha flag while Sahitya Academy awarded Janil Kumar Brahma paid floral homage to late Basumatary followed Sahitya Academy awadee Brajendra Kumar Brahma, Kamala Kanta Mushahary, general secretary, Dipak Kumar Basumatary, Biseswar Basumatary, vice presidents of Bodo Sahitya sabha, Mwnhashar Basumatary, Khrwmshar Basumatary, sons, Anita Brahma Basumatary, daughter in low paid floral tribute on the occasion.
A seminar on the topic of Spelling of Bodo language was also organized on the occasion to mark the observation.
Mentioned be made that Basumatary had compiled 22 books on Bodo folklore.
'Late Basumatary was a man of literary creation, who dedicated his whole life to the uplift of Bodo literary among Bodo community. His dedicated folklore literary creations today got syllabus in University education', said Janil Kumar Brahma.

Participants from Kickboxing Association of BTAD won four gold and two silver medals in the ongoing National Kickboxing championship being held at Rajib Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kerala. A joint team of Chirang Police & 7 Sikh Army apprehanded a KLO linkman in a search operation in the Sakati village, Basugaon in Chirang district. The person was identified as Abinash Ray (22), a resident of of Srirampur village. One 8 mm pistol (handmade) with live ammunition was recovered from his possession. Police apprehended a suspected over ground worker/sympathizer of NDFB-S identified as Paulina Basumatary 22, wife of a NDFB-S cadre Compounder alias Khaose from No 1 Nandipur village under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district . Police said Rs 15,000 (extorted from Audung Bazar area) have been recovered from her possession which was supposed to be handed over to NDB-S cadre. She was working as a channel of communication between the NDFB-S cadres and over ground worker in that area through her husband. She has been playing a very important role in siphoning off extortion money to the outfit in Myanmar through the OGWs/sympathisers.

Noted writer and Sahitya Akademy awardee Maheswar Narzary passes away on Saturday evening by 4.30 pm due to ailment at his Simbargaon Jainary residence in Kokrajhar district. Narzary has been suffering of his ailment since few months back and breathed his last this evening. He was 78.Narzary received Sahitya Akademy award in 2011 for his ‘Puranni Solo Phitika’ book.He was retired teacher and associated with Bodo sahitya sabha and cultural activities in his life.
