An anti corruption and vigilance cell of Assam police questioned a circle of senior officers in the state directorate of information and public relations to probe a Rs 30 crore scam that took place during the erstwhile Congress government.
The police team questioned deputy director Kanakeswar Gohain along with a few officers three days after they questioned director Ranjit Gogoi before taking many files in questions in their possession.
According to allegations, the multi crore scam took place in the name of publicity of the much hyped Mission Assam Vision Assam campaign where the department awarded publicity contracts to a few firms without issuing any tenders.
According to information, the department had not been able to provide adequate documents to satisfy the investigators who questioned the senior officials.
