Workshop on Paediatric Urology concludes

The Department of Urology, Dispur Hospitals Ltd successfully organized CME cum Video Workshop on Paediatric Urology on 6th May 2017. About 70 delegates from all over the North East India attended the academic programme.

10 guest faculties from across the country participated and delivered guest lectures on various aspects of paediatric urological ailments. Prof Amilal Bhat from Jodhpur, who is an internationally acclaimed authority on Hypospadias dealt at length about various surgical procedures. Prof. N. P. Gupta, former HOD, AIIMS , New Delhi ,who is the pioneer in popularizing robotic surgery in India discussed about the use of robot in paediatric urological problems. Dr Sajid Qureshi, HOD of Paediatric Surgery, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai spoke on Wilms Tumour which is quite common in paediatric age group. All other faculties including Dr V. Krishnamoorthy from Bengaluru, Dr Mallikarjun Reddy from Hyderabad, Dr Virender Sekhon from Gurgaon, NCR, Dr G S Kocchar from New Delhi, Dr Harprit Singh from Jamshedpur, Dr Shyam Baruah from Guwahati presented videos and talks pertaining to urological diseases in the paediatric population.

The inaugural function was attended by Prof R. C Deka , former Director of AIIMS, New Delhi as the Chief Guest. Prof A. K Barman , Director of Medical Education, Govt. of Assam was the Guest of Honour in the function. Prof Rajeev T.P, President , Assam Urological Society presided over the inaugural function. Prof P M Deka, Chief Consultant Urologist and Head of Department of Urology, Dispur Hospitals Ltd and former HOD, Dept of Urology, Gauhati Medical College delivered the welcome speech. Dr Santwana Bordoloi, M.D ,Dispur Hospitals Ltd ,herself a paediatrician and a national award winner for her films was felicitated in the inaugural function.

This was first of its kind CME dealing with Paediatric Urology organized in the whole of North East and East India.

Batadrava MLA Angoorlata Deka opened four  newly constructed Classrooms including toilets in Pachim Silpukhuri Adarxa Higher Secondary School and Uttar Silpukhuri Secondary School on Wednesday. The Classrooms with toilets have been completed with an expenditure of Rs.48 lakh under Multi sectoral development Programme. In her speech, Deka said thrse additional Classrooms would be of immense help for the schools to accommodate the growing number of students.. A 16-year-old boy named Abhinash nath,crossing the NH 37 near Phulaguri in the Nagaon district died at the scene after being hit by an unknown vehicle  (suspected to be a Swift dzire) on Saturday morning. According to locals, Abinash nath, son of Mohan nath of Pahupurikhaiti under Raha police station was a Class X student of Phulaguri Sankardev Sishu vidya niketan. Eye Witness said, the tregedy  struck Abhinash while  crossing the NH37 with earphones plugged in. He was on his way to his tuition classes riding his bycycle in the morning. Meanwhile, the Raha police are still trying to locate the Vehicle that was responsible for the accident and had fled from the scene.
Yet in another bizarre incident, deadbody of  a man recovered from a wetland of Pub Guimari adjacent to Kampur railway station in the Nagaon district on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Saddam hussain of Radhaati, under Dhing Police Station of Nagaon.Sources said that few localites of the area spotted the body lying in a wetland of Guimari and informed Kampur police.Getting the information, a team of police personnel of Kampur police station rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Police also found a mobile phone, train ticket and adhaar Card from the deadbody. Locals have suspected that some miscreants killed the man and dumped the body into wetland...
In yet another incident of firing within a span of 24 hours, unidentified persons opened fire on a 34-year-old man at Barhampur area of Nagaon on Monday night. One Naba Sinha of Amoni was injured in the incident. As per reports, Naba was on his way towards home on his motorcycle when two motorcycle borne unidentified persons  fired a bullet at Barhampur. The bullet hit Naba's left leg.On receiving information, a police team from Nagaon Sadar rushed to the spot and launched investigation. The police recovered a 9MM pistol bullet from the spot. A 20-year-old youth named Saurav Hazarika of Tetelisara under Kampur police station and a TDC 1st semester student of Ananadaram Dhekial Phukan College, Nagaon has received serious gunshot injuries when four unidentified miscreants fired at him adjacent to Kalaikhua bridge, Barkola in the Nagaon district on Sunday evening.  Saurav was on his way towards home on his motorcycle and when four miscrents forcefully stopped him and started firing. Saurav, who received bullet wound in his stomach has been admitted to BP Civil Hospital in critical condition. Nagaon police have started their investigation.
A newborn baby was left  abandoned with a note (letter) in a gateway shed at Nij Demow under Bebejia police outpost in the Nagaon district on Sunday morning. The boy has been admitted to the Nagaon BP civil hospital. According to Sarat Saikia, I/C Bebejia police outpost, "the newborn, wrapped in clothes, was born two/three days ago, before he was dumped by her parents. On Sunday at around 5.15 a.m, the locals spotted the baby and informed us. A pall of gloom descended on Panbari Paghali Village adjacent to Jajori of Morigaon district,the native Village of Indian Army soldier Hemananda deka,popularly known as 'Okoni',who was killed when an Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17 V5 helicopter crashed near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh,close to Indo-China border on Friday morning killing all seven military personnel on board.
