Meritorious HSLC students feted

In a bid to encourage the ignited spirits of Tangla  Jana Jagaran Society organised a felicitation programme for  the meritious students who passed out  HSLC at the Bor Tangla ME school on the outskirts of the town on Saturday.

The felicitation programme was graced as chief guest by Nilamoni Bora retired Principal of Tangla HS .The programme which was presided over by Santeswar Rabha President of the society was sponsored by P& D Enterprise co-ordinated by noted comedian and actor Bipul Rabha and Khoirabari Revenue Circle Officer Lakhya Jyoti Das.

The maiden speech on the programme was delivered  by Ashim  Roy. Speaking on the ocassion Nabin Ch. Bezbaruah said that the district is lacking behind in education sphere,not many students of the region make into competitive examinations.He urged the students to set definite goals and struggle to achieve them. He hailed Jana Jagaran Society and Dipen Das(Toppa) the propietor of P & D Enterprise for organising such an event.

Nilamoni Bora attending the programme as chief guest said ," Our society has been engulfed by anti-social elements.It is quite absurd to read incidents of Murder,rape ,molestation  which grabs headlines in daily newspapers.

"All round develipment is the sole purpose of education. Today's youth has been gripped by three things Mobile ,Motor-bike and alcohol which has pushed them to edge of dangerous things.

Questioning the state govt. on its stance on dry state status to Assam he said," Chief Minister Sonowal boasts that it is Sankar-Madhavs' land ajd we should inspired by their teachings. But did they teach to drink alcohol. Why can't Assam be a dry state he questioned? Assam blessed with numerous revebue generating resources feom tea, oil is not depended on alcohol and wine shops and alcohol distillaries for revenue.He further said that the Politicians should not resort to such politics which which destroys the youth as there have been open sale of drugs and alcohol. Noted comedian and actor Bipul Rabha also spoke on the ocassion and entertained them.

In the felicitation programme as many as 130 students who passed out HSLC 2017 were feted with a mementos, phulam gamocha . The students also expressed their gratitude to the members of the society for feting them.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.  AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang  to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two  others for not wearing masks. TANGLA: A  devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm. UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by  Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
