Bir Chilagang Basumatary remembered
Contributions of Bir Chilagang Basumatary, founder chairman of the now defunct Bodo Liberation Tiger (BLT) was remembered towards the Bodoland movement, who revolt with arms for the separate state of Bodoland within India, on his 20th death anniversary at his burial place Bir Chilagang Puri, Bongshigaon on Wednesday in Kokrajhar district.
Irrespective of organization, party and local people thronged to paid floral tribute at the emetery of Basumatary at Bongshigaon,was organized by Bir Chilagang Martyrs Tomb Development Committee, Bongshigaon.
Ramani Basumatary,widow of late Basumatary paid rich floral tribute to the tomb followed leaders from various organisations. Basumatary survived by wife,two sons and a daughter. Basumatary was the founder chairman of the then Bodoland Liberation Tiger (BLT) who revolt with arms for the separate state of Bodoland within India,was born on 1st February, 1959 at Bongshigaon and expired on June 28, 1997 due to prolonged illness.
BTC executive members Rajib Brahma,Doneswar Goyary,former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma,former BTC executive member Sabharam Basumatary,Janamahan Mushahary,chairman of ex-BLT welfare sosciety, leaders from ABSU,BPF,Tribal Sangha,ABWWF paid tribute to Bsaumatary and observed condolence in memory of Basumatary for his departed soul.
Sabharam Basumatary,former BTC executive member and former BLT leader said that late Basumatary contributed a lot towards Bodo nation building in his life, hadstruggled with arms for the cause of separate of Bodoland state. He said Bir Chilagang was a leader of deep philosophy while carrying mass struggled for the caused of Bodoland state. He said the BTC administration was working for the rememberence of Chilangang among society.

Sanswrang Mushahary of Bodoland University has been arrested by police on Wednesday evening for alleged molestation charge by 17 students. Journalists fraternity of Kokrajhar Press Club paid floral tribute to journalist Jagajit Saikia on his eight death anniversary today at Kokrajhar Press Club. The anniversary was organized by Kokrajhar Press Club. Journalists and media workers from Kokrajhar thronged the Press Club to paid floral tribute and observed one minute silence to respect late Saikia. Saikia was Kokrajhar Correspondent of Amar Asom, an Assamese daily . He was shot death by armed militants at Kokrajhar town in 2008. Kokrajhar police apprehended three persons of a family for involved with attack Maoria Basumatary and his son late last evening at Jordanpur village being suspect of witch in Kokrajhar district.
