MARGHERITA: AJYCP leaders and workers in Margherita hit the streets on Wednesday in protest against the move to form the greater Nagalim with the inclusion of some areas of Assam.

With banners, play cards and festoones, the protestors shouted slogans warning the government of dire consequences if Assam is forced to shed even an inch of land in the name of Nagalim.

Surojit Mohon, Tinsukia AJYCP president said since BJP came to power the government has been trying to appease the Naga people even at the cost of territorial integrity.

More than 500 activists who were participating in the procession to the SDO(CIVIL) office demanded NRC draft by December 31, 2017.

Illegal settlers detained in Tinsukia

MARGHERITA: The Police have detained more than a dozen illegal Bangladeshi settlers in Margherita on Thursday. Margherita unit of AJYCP leaders and activists who spotted them loitering on the bank of the river Burhidihing and after questioning them police men came and took them in detention. Talking to Assam Times, local AJYCP leaders said for the last several months they have been working at a nearby brick kiln staying in some huts. Now AJYCP workers are looking for some other settlers in the area. When police questioned them they have failed to give any convincing reply.

Counter insurgency operation in Ledo

Protest in Tinsukia over Nagalim theory

TINSUKIA:More than 1000 people five different organizations staged dharna in Tinsukia on Monday alleging a conspiracy to compromise Assam's territorial integrity in the name of the greater Nagalim. Exploitation! Probe underway to ascertain

Margherita Sub Divisional officer(Civil) Bikram Koiri is probing into the allegations of exploitation on the workers of  the Segunbari Tea Factory by proprietor Gautam Beria.  According to allegations, the workers do not get regular wages, no provident fund, medical facility which has been going on for the last 26 years. Naga rebels arrested in Ledo

MARGHERITA: Security forces apprehended two Naga rebels during a stepped up counter insurgency operation in Ledo on Saturday three days after a gang of rebels unleashed a reign of terror inside a coal mining in the area. Identified as Monhong Tikok and Rohonong Tikok, both from Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, the duo were picked up from Malogaon area during a combing operation by police and Assam Rifles jawans in the wee hours. Coal workers blame govt for mines closure

All India Coal Workers Federation leaders have come down heavily on the NDA government at the Centre alleging a set of anti people policies which have ruined the country’s economy.
