NAMRUP:A section of people in a remote hamlet in Namrup killed a leopard hours after it killed a lady and hurt 3 others in a series of attack on Friday morning. Not only that after lynching, the villagers cut the animal into pieces in full view of the forest officials. Then they claimed to have consumed it triggering widespread anger among the animal lovers.
These disturbing incidents took place in Majkopihuwa goan and Asomiya Gaon where the local villagers in large number chased the leopard after it killed Maikon Gogoi and injuring three others in s series of attacks in the morning.
The animal then was beaten up to death. A section of them cut it into pieces to vanished. Some of them later claimed to have consumer it which needs to be probed.

The reason why the leopard attacked people is not mentioned. A leopard won't just go on an attack spree. I would assume that these would have been either chance encounters or the leopard retaliating when provoked

Hours after the rape of a minor girl by two culprits, Lakhimpur police arrested a hospital staff acting on a molestation complaint lodged by a patient. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi strongly recommends Bharat Ratna for Dr Bhupen Hazarika. Sources told Assam Times that in his recent letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gogoi requested him to confer the country's highest civilian honour to the cultural icon posthumously. Two small tea growers sustained injury when a group of NDFB(S) militants attacked them in Sonitpur district on Monday. According to information, a group of four armed militants attacked the tea planter at Mainasiri in Urahaloga in the wee hours for failing to pay the money they demanded earlier. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday proposed a Dredging Corporation to firmly deal with the perennial flood and erosion problems in the state.In his budget speech, Gogoi said that this will be apart from recommendations for 41 Centre-funded schemes worth Rs 1,387 crore.He said,” in view of the critical erosion problem, channelisation of River Brahmaputra, Barak and its tributaries and reclamation of lost land has become highly necessary. I propose to set up a Dredging Corporation for this purpose."

With a series of populist measures chief minister Tarun Gogoi tabled his state budget for 2014-15 in the assembly on Monday. Gogoi, who holds the finance portfolio read out his budget speech after the end of the question hours on the floor. His populist measures were on the expected line in the wake of his party’s humiliating defeat in the recent Lok Sabha polls hardly one and a half years before the assembly polls. Gogoi refrained from tabling his full fledge budget n March because of the general poll in April and May. He tabled only the vote on account on the floor in March.
