GOLAGHAT: Normal life remained totally paralyzed on Thursday under the impact of a day long bandh call by a tea garden student organization demanding death sentence of two tea garden owners who shot at six workers for demanding wages.
Roads in the tea rich district remained deserted as vehicles refused to play after the organizers enforced the bandh. Shops and markets, schools and colleges, offices and banks remained closed for the day.
Bandh supporters in many places blocked the National Highway for several hours causing immense inconvenience for the passengers.
A huge traffic snarl disrupted surface communication on the National Highway No 37 in Bokakhat where more than 5000 tea garden workers blocked the vital road demanding capital punishment for the tea garden owners.
