NEW DELHI: Trouble brews for Pema Khandu after a woman leveled a serious charge against the Arunachal Pradesh chief Minister. The woman who has moved the National Commission for Women has accused Khandu along with his two associates of gang raping her in 2008. The woman who hails from Siang has told the commission that she had been gang-raped in the month of July. According to her lawyer, the victim who was in search of job was invited to a guest house in Tawang where Khandu along with two others namely Phurpa Lama Thumpeen Tashi and Dorjee Wangchu gang raped her.
The aftermath is more pathetic. According to the complainant, she move Itanagar women police station with the complaint. But was not entertained. She claimed to have filed two FIRs, one in December 2015 and the other in January 2016, in the Itanagar Women Police Station. But of no avail. The complaint is likely to brew a huge political storm in the north eastern state where Congress leaders are contemplating to capitalize the issue.
