Arms recovered

KOKRAJHAR: Security forces have recovered large number cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives inside Manas National Park (MNP) under Gavarukundha range near Panbari under Bijni police station in Chirang district on Tuesday morning.

A joint operation was launched on Tuesday evening by Chirang Police in the general area of Gavarukunda inside deep jungles of MNP near Panbari and recovered huge amounts of arms, ammunitions and explosives on a buried condition. Security forces had come successful to trace out the arms with the help Indian Army tracker dog which had led to the spot where arms were buried.

Police suspects the recovery arms belong to NDFB- Saoraigwra faction which were kept buried.

The recovery arms,ammunition and explosives were included nine factory made rifle, 11 country made rifle, 56 ammunitions of 7.62 AK series,10 rounds of 5.56 riffle, 21 ammunitions of  7.62 sniper, ten round ammunitions of  7.62 Pika, 29 ammunitions of 7.62 CTN,f four magazines,98 empty cartridges and 17 kgs explosives (PEK).

Journalisn workshop held

A day-long workshop on journalism was held at Bodofa House, Baganshali in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Young journalists from different six districts of the state- Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang and Kokrajhar participated the workshop. Goreswar lifts BTAD-Army football premier league

KOKRAJHAR: Goreswar Town Football Club of Baksa beat Udalguri's Bhergaon Football Club 4-0 goals to lift the trophy in the final match of the BTAD-Army football premier league-2019 held at Kokrajhar Govt HS & MP School playground, Kokrajhar on Sunday. For Goreswar, Jegyas Deka netted first goal in 21st minutes. Again, Bimal Boro, Jegyas Deka and Dhiraj Rajbongshi scored one each goal in 37th, 40th and 42nd minutes of the first half that led the team. ABMSU demands for justice to Lafikul murder case

KOKRAJHAR:  A two-hour sit-in-protest dharna was staged on Wednesday at children park near DC office demanding  justice to the Lafikul Islam Ahmed murder case, and stopping increased atrocities on minority community in the name of doubtful D-voters in the state. Review committee visits detention center

KOKRAJHAR: An eight-member delegation of  a special review committee on detention center, led by chairman Debojit Mukherjee visited the detention center in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The delegation members include Debojit Mukherjee, deputy inspector of police (Border) and chairman of the committee, district judge (retired) H Singh, IGP of Prisons Barnali Sharma, D Saikia, AIG of Prisons and several senior police officials. National Press Day observed in BTAD

KOKRAJHAR: The National Press Day-2019 was observed in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Saturday. Kokrajhar Press Club and district administration jointly organised the National Press Day here at Basic Training Centre in Kokrajhar to mark the national press day. Indonesia bags first spot in paragliding championship

KOKRAJHAR: Indonesian paragliders have won first prizes in the first-ever Bodoland international Paragliding accuracy championship-2019. The event concluded on Thursday after four day programme at Dangdupur Hill in Kokrajhar district. 68 participants from 11 countries participated in the championship and displayed their paragliding skills. 22 foreign paragliders participanted in the event. KOKRAJHAR: Security forces apprehended three cadres of the Saoraigwra faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) in the India-Bhutan border area in Chirang district on Monday evening. Nine countries participate in paragliding championship

KOKRAJHAR: The first-ever Bodoland International accuracy Paragliding championship-2019 began from Monday at Dangdupur Hill, Kokrajhar district. 68 participants, including nine countries, are participating the championship. There are 22 foreign paragliders including four women in the international championship  are from China (5), Indonesia (6), Nepal (4), Korea (5), Japan (1) and Taiwan (1).
