Hail storm hits state hard

GUWAHATI: A huge hailstorm accompanied by thunder and lightening on Thursday night heavily disrupted normal lives in many parts of the state on Friday.

The storm started lashing the capital city of Guwhati  at around 9-30 in the evening where roads were submerged with rainwaters. In the lower Assam districts of Goalpara, Barpeta also the stormed disrupted the surface communication.

Same reports are coming from Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golghat and Tinsukia and Sonitpur and Nagaon where the uprooted trees blocked many roads apart from disrupting the electricity and tele communication network.  Efforts in many areas are going on to restore the telecom network and electricity but it might take a couple of days.
