At least 12 persons were killed and 30 others injured in an indiscriminate firing by the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants at Bhiumajuli in Bihali Reserve Forest area in Sonitpur district on Sunday. According to information, heavily armed militants belonging to the RaNJAN DAIMARY faction of the Voro rebel outfit came to the spot on Sunday evening and started to fire targeting some shops. The militants earlier served extortion notices only to be denied by the villagers. Immediately after the firing, the militants left the spot leaving 11 persons dead on the spot.The injured have been rushed to nearby civil hospitals at Biswanath Chariali and Tezpur. Police and Para-military forced have started a massive combing operation in and around the spot of incident to apprehend the culprits.But There is no report ofany arrest.

2. Aggressive Tribalism, Tribal Agenda too High for a cosmopolitan mindset
3. Like many tribes in Africa, many hill tribes have taken up Christianity and Western lifestyles, but still xenophobic in mental set-up
4. Christianity has not been able to bring in 'Universal Peace and Brotherhood', it has just expanded the base of Christians which is the objective of the Pope in Vatican city.
5. Highly Racist in social order...fellow countrymen need Inner Line Permits (ILP) in hill states even when they have gone up much higher in all ranks in the national level. Students from NE hill states are moving out to study in Delhi. Students from Delhi will never come to such xenophobic towns where racism rules the roost.
6. Highly consumerist societies, no productivity, not self-reliant in food, clothes or anything else. Still talks about 'seperate lands'.

I would like to respond to Dorika's comment. His/her observations are partially true. But I would suggest him/her to read more on the issue and then give judgements.
Assam governor JB Patnaik had to cut short his speech due to protest by the opposition in the opening day of Assam Assembky budget sessionon Tuesday. The pandemonium began soon after the governor Patnaik lauded Chief Minsister Tarun Gogoi for restoration peace in the state. Oppsition AGP, BJP leaders stood up with festoons and disrupted the governor's speech. They demanded the dismissal of Gogoi government where seven ministers are allegedly involved in in the multi crore scam in NC Hills. Amid an unruly scene, Governor stopped his speech.

In yet another significant development Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had a close door meet with union home minister P Chidambaram in Delhi on Thursday. Both are believed to have discussed the modalities for talks with ULFA. Later talking to media, Gogoi said that they want all top ULFA leaders to be involved in the process. Assam DGP Sankar Barua also was present in the meeting. The meeting assumes significance after a local TADA court granted bail to Pradeep Gogoi and Mithinga Daimary.

This was confirmed by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi after his meeting with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in Delhi. Farmers from across Assam thronged in thousands in Dispur on Thursday to stage demonstration demanding steps to check rampant corruptions that cripples the much-hyped NREGA. The roads leading to Namrup from Sonari to Namrup as well as Nahakatia to Namrup are in very bad condition. It is hard to imagine such pathetic roads in this twentieth century. Specially in an industrial area like Namrup which houses three very important industries i.e. Bhrahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Limited, Namrup Thermal Power Plant and Assam Petrochemical limited. The suffering encountered by every people coming to Namrup because of the road, compel them to think twice before coming. The people of Namrup deserves demands better road communication. The concerned authorities and local MLA must take strong initiative for a better Namrup.

Two ULFA top leaders have yet to be released even a day after procured bail in TADA cases. Jail authorities have cited security reasons for the delay. The outfit's publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary is expected to be released on Thursday. ULFA vice president Pradip Gogoi has also yet to be released citing a delayed official procedure. According to source, Gogoi will have to ensure 12 personal bonds before the court before his release from Guwahati central jail where he has been languishing since 1998. Mithinga was logged in jail since 2004 after he was captured in Bhutan in operation all clear.
