Rongali Bihu 2010 celebrated in Gurgaon

It was an evening of Bihu in Gurgaon and a crowd of about 500 strong people gathered and celebrated with fun & fiesta Rongali Bihu 2010, celebrated by Assam Association, Gurgaon (AAG) at DLF Phase-I Community Centre, DLF Phase-I, Gurgaon. The viewers hailing from all over the National Capital Territory of Delhi even from far flung areas like Ghaziabad, Faridabad & NOIDA enjoyed the show till the very end.. The Cultural Evening started at 7:45PM with the arrival of the Guest of Honor, Deputy Chief-de-Mission, Embassy of Peru.


The festival formally started with lighting of lamp by the Guest of Honor, Mr. T P Khaund, Principal Adviser to Govt. of Mizoram, President, Vice-President & General Secretary of AAG Mr. Mridul Bhuyan, Mr. Mukul Gogoi & Dr. Kalpajeet Nath respectively. The show was anchored in English by Dr. Kalpajeet Nath and in Assamese by Dr. Geeta B Nath. The show started with a recital appealing to protect the environment by two kids from the younger generation from Gurgaon Master Kabir Nath & Master Nishant Kashyap, followed by a dance recital in Jyoti Sangeet by little damsel from Gurgaon Ms. Rajarshee Dutta; with these kids representing the upcoming generation born & brought-up outside Assam and still showing their affinity towards the rich heritage & culture of Assam. This was followed by Chorus, in which the ladies from Gurgaon, Dr. Geeta B Nath, Mrs. Ashalata Bhuyan, Mrs. Ruby Dutta, Mrs. Rajarshi Kashyap, Mrs. Sangeeta Barthakur Baruah, Mrs. Nisha Agarwal, Mrs. Malabika Saikia, Mrs. Reena Sharma took part.


The Souvenir of AAG, ‘Samannay’ (edited by Dr. Geeta B Nath) was inaugurated by the Guest of Honor, Reknowned Actor from Assam Mr. Nayan Nilim (popularly known as ‘Damn Fool’) & Mr. T P Khaund. The event was followed by the Bihu team comprising of members from Duliajan, Sivasagar and Tinsukia, who presented an immaculate Bihu-Hunsori. A Xotriya dance followed the Bihu-Hunsori to showcase the rich cultural traditions of Assam by Ms. Gargee Goswami from Delhi University. The event was followed by a skit based on the story ‘Dhekithora’ by Sahityarothi Lakhmi Nath Bezbaruah, in which Mr. Saidhanta M Kashyap, Mrs. Ashalata Bhuyan, Mrs. Rajarshi Kashyap, Mr. Trirango Sharma & Mr. Iftikar Hussain performed to add a comical twist to the evening.


A Triad to the evening was chorded by upcoming artist from Gurgaon Mr. Sanjit Phukan with few melodious songs. The evening went into a crescendo with the beginning of the ‘Rupees Ten Thousand Prizemoney Bihuwoti Competition’, organized for the first time in NCR of Delhi. The viewers joyously indulged in impromptu Bihu dance in front of the dais. Nine Bihuwotis, Ms. Anshuma Saikia from Rohini, Ms. Naomi Hazarika from Dwarka, Ms. Sandhya Mohon, Ms. Julimoni Gogoi from Satya Niketan, New Delhi, Ms. Rimjhim Pathak from Dwarka, Ms. Akankshya Bhuyan, Mrs. Bidisha Sharma, Ms. Mamoni Boro, Mrs. Sangita Bora from Gurgaon participated in the competition. The three prizes went to Ms. Akankshya, Ms. Bidisha and Ms. Julimoni respectively. The event was followed by melodoious songs presented by Guest artists from Guwahati Mr. Dipak Sharma, Raju, the Assam Idol Semi-finalist and upcoming singer Ms. Nabanita Kalita. The cherished evening came to an end with an authentic Assamese Dinner comprising of ‘Bhat’, ‘Dali’, ‘Khaahi Mangso’, ‘Masor Tenga Jool’, ‘Murighonto’, ‘Lebera Bhaji’, ‘Beson diya Bengana Bhasi, and ‘Payas’. The memory will linger on for a long time to come."

A Guwahati based organization takes on Chief minister and APSC alleging bribe in the examination held to select the candidates for ACS, APS and allied services. The officials of the Peoples'Welfare Forum lodged an FIR at Basistha police station against chief minister Tarun Gogoi and APSC chairman Rakesh Paul charging the duo to have taken bribe from a section of candidates to ensure their success in the competitive examination. Gogoi on Friday said that RTI is available to get the doubts cleared. The organization staged dharna in front of APSC office premises on Saturday raising bribery allegations.
