Guwahati : The Assam United Democratic Front has distanced itself from its MLA Rasul Haque Bahadur who had demanded creation of an autonomous council for the minorities of Golapara, Barpeta, Dhubri, Bongaigaon and Darrang districts. Mr Badruddin Ajmal, President of AUDF has said that a Central Executive Meeting of the party would be convened where Haque would be asked to explain his statement. Ajmal further clarified that the party would never subscribe to these views as it did not believe in development of all the people in the State and not only of the minority community.

Poaching refuses to die down in Kaziranga. Another one-horned rhino was shot dead in the famed Kaziranga National Park on. The carcass was spotted on Tuesday morning at Burhapahar. But the poachers failed to take away the horn. Assam Human Rights Commission on Tuesday urged introduction of human rights in the syllabus of primary and secondary school and at the college level. Bodo rally in Delhi against B’deshis

Bodo people on Tuesday staged demonstration in Delhi demanding a judicial probe into the recent riot in BTAD areas alleging that immigrants from the neighbouring Bangladesh have been mongering trouble in these districts.
