The Institution of Engineers here has arranged to celebrate its year-long golden jubilee starting November next.
According to information, a number of programmes have been lined up, like science exhibition, international seminar and outreach for the schoolchildren.
The Institution of Engineers (India) is the largest professional body in the world with almost 5 lakh corporate and non-corporate members. It is a premier organisation of engineers in the country engaged in the pursuit of promotion and advancement of science, practice and business of engineering.
The decision to set up the Assam State centre of the Institution was broached at the 409th meeting of the council held at Shillong on November 28, 1958.
The centre has played a crucial role in bringing together the professionals from industry and academia into a common platform for guiding and assisting the local governments, civic bodies and policy makers for implementation of different technology for development of the State as well as the national.
It successfully organised the four-day 21st Indian Engineering Congress for the first time at Guwahati during December last year which was lauded by the engineering fraternity of the entire nation.
During this mega event, the Centre also organised a science and technology exhibition named ‘prayukti@prag’ with a commitment to hold it every year.
The golden jubilee year of the centre will being with an exhibition pryukti@prag on a much wider scale incorporating diverse areas for the benefit of all cross-sections of society to be held at Assam Engineering Institute playground at Chandmari from November 14-19.
