Four NDFB and three GNLA cadres arrested in Dudhnoi and Lakhipur

Four NDFB and three GNLA cadres were arrested in three different search operations on Wednesday. In the first operation, launched by the police and CRPF jawans, one NDFB cadre was held at Mandalgram of Dudhnoi in Goalpara. The cadre has been identified as Tony Lal Basumatary. One pistol made in USA and one bike along with some other documents were recovered from his possession.


Whereas a few hours later, three out of four GNLA cadres were arrested by the army at Dainadubi of the Assam-Meghalaya border. The arrested have been identified as Sanju Momin, Moti Marak and Jales R. Marak.


According to reports, the cadres were held at a secret camp. Officials recovered one AK-47 rifle, two barrel gun along with four rounds of live cartridges, one lamination machine, many fake vehicle documents and keys and many mobile handsets from their possession.


In the third operation Gajraj Corps Intelligence team and 13 Sikhli Army apprehended three NDFB cadres at Lakhipur in Goalpara district. The cadres were identified as Jogen Rabha, Nerswn Uzir and Hogla Basumatary. Three 9 mm factory made pistol, four live rounds ammunition and 2 NDFB demand notes were recovered from their possession.

12 shops gutted as fire broke out at Dudhnoi

As many as twelve shops were gutted in a major fire that broke out at the market near NH 37 at Dudhnoi town in Goalpara District in the early hours on Friday. The fire that started accidentally in a cloth store quickly spread to ten other neighbouring shops before amassing a huge part of the market. However, the exact cause of the fire has not yet been established. The inferno soon raised an alarm amidst the gathering crowds who immediately called the fire service to extinguish the blazing fire. NDFB Cadre Killed in an Encounter in East Garo Hills

2 suspected militants from the anti-talks faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland were shot dead while other 3 escaped, in an encounter by security forces at East Garo Hills, Meghalaya in the wee hours of Saturday. The encounter took place at Gori Singram village under Mendipathar Police Station of Meghalaya bordering Goalpara district of Assam. According to sources a search operation has been launched by the Mendipathar Police and 9th Sikhli Regiment of Indian Army to caught the militants. The 2 slain militants are yet to be identified. Bus-truck Collision, 8 killed, 40 injured at Rangjuli

Eight persons were killed and 40 others injured, ten of them critically, when a bus collided with a 10-wheeler truck at Rangjuli in Goalpara district on Monday. Police, Indian Army of 9th Sikhli Regiment and medical emergency personnel rushed to the spot to rescue the injured. The speeding bus, bearing no. AS 01 DC-7245, was on its way from Fakiraganj of Dhubri district to Guwahati, and the truck (HR 74/3734) collided head-on at Rangjuli on National Highway 37 killing 2 persons on the spot and 6 others in the hospitals at Dudhnoi and Goalpara.
