The failure to beckon mega big ticket investment on industrial front has forced the Assam government to think of the small and cottage industries.
Talking to reporters in Guwahati on Saturday, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that he took up the matter with the Planning Commission on his recent visit to Delhi where he argued that there was no dearth of small units giving employment opportunity in village areas.
According to him, transport subsidy was available for the big industry for transportation of raw material and finished products to Northeast. H said that the same is not available to small industry located in interior areas.
