Legal Aid Day obseved at Raha

A legal awareness meet was held here at Basic Training Centre, Raha on the occasion of National Legal Service Day on November 9. The meet was organized by International Computers, a computer instititute and an NGO, in association with Legal Aid Centre , Nagaon.


Dr Nirala Devi, Principal, Basic Training Centre , presided over the meeting which was attended by a large number of public.


Ganga Ballav Goswami, distinguished lawyer of Nagaon in his speech introduced the public, attended the meeting,with the Domestic Violence Act, Right to Education Act, Child Labour Act and free legal help available for all by various government agencies and NGO’s. He said that every woman can feel safe if she has a good knowledge about the Domestic Violence Act. He further said that it is everyone’s duty to report to the administration or police station if anybody or any organisaton is found violating the Child Labour Act.


Kumud Chandra Bezbarua, advocate, in his speech, said that Domestic Violence Act does not help only the woman class of the society but the man too. He urged all to get the benefits of Right to Education Act so that no child could remain illiterate. He said that anybody,if wish, could take legal help free of cost from New Building, Nagaon Court, Room no.24.


The meet was also attended by Kumud Chandra Goswami, Legal advisor, International Computers, Rupak Sharma, Co-ordinator, Legal Aid Centre, Nagaon besides the employees of International Computers and Trainee Teachers of the Basic Training Centre, Raha.

I was also present in that meeting. Almost people present in that meeting satisfied by getting solution of various legal problem. that meeting was realy helpfull for us.We need more like this type of legal awareness camp.

A full-grown Royal Bengal tiger which is creating terror in Roha and Kampur areas since Sunday night last attacked two villagers today at 2.30 in the afternoon at Meteka, a village three kilometers away from Roha. The members of the Nagaon Bar Association in an extraordinary general meeting on Friday condemned the serial blast in four different places of the state by the terrorist organizations which claimed more than 80 innocent lives and causing drastic injuries to several hundreds of people, in a press release said.Expressing shock over the security of the ordinary people’s lives, several speakers vehemently condemned the role of administration and police. Police of Nagaon district raided a Public Call Office located at Moirabari in Nagaon and seized a good number of illegal documents.Police personnel said to Assam Times during a talk that the SMS which was sent to the television channel News Live through a Reliance mobile SIM card was connected from the raid PCO.
