World Wetland Day Celebration at Abhayapuri

The World Wetland Day was celebrated by Aaranyak West Assam Zone with the help of Abhayapuri College, Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon on February 2. A seminar cum meeting was held at 11 am in the Seminar Hall of Abhayapuri College. At the beginning Dr. Ashoke Kumar Das, the Coordinator of Aaranyak West Assam zone has delivered the well come address and about the theme of this year World Wetland Day.

The Principal of the college Ram Chandra Pathak has presided over the seminar cum meeting. Before the starting of the meeting the distinguished invitees were felicitated with Fulam Gamosa. Prof. Dasarath Nath, HoD of Botany department and Dr. Subrata Sarkar of Aaranyak has delivered lecture on Wetland and the need of its conservation. Dr. Nur Rahman Bhuyan, Prof. of Political Science department and Soburuddin Ahmed, the governing body president of Abhayapuri College has also interacted with the students about the need of wetland conservation. After light refreshment, a documentary of Ramsar convention and a film named ‘Home’ was shown with the help of LCD projector. At the end, Dhanjit Ray, a member of Aaranyak has delivered vote of thanks to all participants of the program.
