Green Guard Nature observs Earth Day 2013 at Nagaon
Green Guard Nature Organization collaborated with Sanctuary Asia to observe Earth Day 2013 at Nagaon by educating students of two schools; Loyola School, Nagaon & Jasodadevi Goswami High School, Chapanala, Nagaon. The first is a privately run, urban, English medium school and the later, a rural, Assamese medium, Govt. school with most students from fringe forest communities. Two films, 'She's Alive' & 'The Himalayan Meltdown' were screened and members of our organization explained the issues whenever needed, besides elaborating on the significance of the day. Copies of Sanctuary Asia were also distributed. A Chinese Pangolin, rescued a day before from local hunters by a Green Guard team, was shown to the amazed children at Chapanala, who vowed to stop killing of such animals in their respective communities.

World Elephant Day was observed today by Green Guard Nature Organization with students and villagers of elephant depredation affected areas along the Nagaon- Karbi Anglong border. King Cobra Rehabilitated at Nagaon

A King Cobra was rescued from the premises of the Jiajuri Tea Factory near Nagaon today by Green Guard Nature Organization rescue specialist Dulu Bora. The very aggressive snake had reportedly charged at a group of female leaf pickers, following which some men had been summoned to kill it. The arrival of Dulu saved the King from being bludgeoned to death, and perhaps being eaten, as there are people in that area who are not adverse to eating even venomous reptiles!
