At least three persons were killed and many others have been injured when police opened fire on a mob which turned violent after the recovery of a body in Goalpara district on Monday.
The body of the 50-year-old cowherd, who was missing since Sunday, was found on Monday morning at Mailapathar area near Rakshashini forest of the district after which locals turned out in large numbers to protest.
The mob turned restive and attacked the police with sticks and stones injuring two policemen. Police opened fire to disperse the mob, killing two and injuring more than ten, three of them seriously.
The clash started due to some racial remark by a policeman who was severely beatenby the mod.
