Ijaz tops HSLC exam as SEBA announces results

The Board of Secondary Education announced the results of the High School Leaving Certificate and the Assam High Madrassa Examinations on Friday. Altogether 2,59,149 candidates emerged successful out of 3,66,476. The percentage of successful candidates stands at 70.71%.

Ijaz Ahmed from Pathshala Shiksha Pith in Barpeta tops the HSLC examinations. Second position goes jointly to Gourika Bang, Little Flower School, Dibrugarh; Manas Jyoti Sarma, Anand Vidya Niketan, Nalbari; Pingal Pratyush Nath, Sophy Mercy School, Sibsagar , Saurav Paul, Don Bosco High School in Sonitpur. Nayan Jyoti Sarma, Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Nalbari secured third position. The fourth position goes to Bhargav Pathak from Christ King High School. Nayan Ahmed from Mangaldoi Don Bosco, Darang Himanish Sen from Don Bosco High School, Sonitpur secured fifth position. Sixth position jointly goes to Abhiroop Bhowmik from Christ Jyoti School in Nagaon, Ripunica Gohain from Christ Jyoti School in Nagaon, Paritosh Sanjib Bailung from Sophy Mercy School in Sibsagar. Ridhi Lahon from Salt Brook School in Dibrugarh, Pranami Kaushik from Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya, Rituraj Barman from Sankardev Vidya Niketan in Nalbari and Swati Deka from Saint Joseph Convent in Sonitpur secured seventh position. The 8th Position goes to Rahul Kalita, Raha HS School, Nagaon , Sushmita Basumatary, Saint Joseph Convent, Sonitpur.

Fast track trial starts on 30/10 attack

GUWAHATI:At least 14 former rebels appeared before a special CBI court to face fast track trial in connection with the serial bombings in 2009 where over 100 people lost their lives. Out of 23, only 14 rebels whom CBI chargrsheeted in the case appeared as the court starts fast tracking of the trial on Monday. Rajan Daimary, the then NDFB chief remained absent from the trial on the day one even after CBI indicted him. In fact, a couple of months after the serial explosion most of the accused rebels struck peace deal with the Centre and started staying at their designated camps.

Hindu organization leader booked

GUWAHATI:Yet another Hindu organization leader booked a day after he questioned the rights of the Muslim people to live in Assam. Fast track court taking up serial bombing case

GUWAHATI:A special CBI court in Guwahati on Monday is taking up the serial explosion case in the city along with Kokrajhar and Barpeta in 2009 where around 100 people lost their lives. Special court judge P Chakrabarty is set to decide on the fates of altogether 23 rebels who were accused by CBI as the country's premier investigation agency was probing the deadly incident. Pollution in Brahmaputra water!

GUWAHATI: All of a sudden, the river Brahmaputra has started flowing with dirty water much the major concern of the millions of people in Assam to have spotted the disaster in their lifeline.
