Train derailed

The engine alongwith six boggies of the Mariani Intercity Special Passenger Train (UP) got derailed at around 7.30 PM on friday night at Hunatol area in between Sarupatahr and Naojan Railway Station. However no causalities have reported in the incident.

BJP demands photo electoral roll at Govt expenses

The Gomariguri Block Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party has sent a memorandum to State Election Commissioner opposing Election Commission’s directives to the voters to submit their photos at own cost for inclusion in the photo electoral roll of the state. Car lifters apprehended at Bokakhat

Five car lifters including two women were arrested by Bokakhat Police at Rajabari on NH-37 last night and a Winger (AS-13/C-2429)had been recovered from them. It has been reported that the gang of car lifters are on their way to Dimapur to sell the Winger which they had hired on 2nd April from Paltan Bazar, Guwahati on the pretext of going to Kaziranga. A three day long Anwesha book fair gets underway at Golaghat from today. The book fair has been organised at the Dandadhar Girls High School under the aegis of Golaghat Dist. administration in association with Antarik, a socio-economical organisation of the district. Birendra Baishya vocal on declaring tea as National Drink at Rajya Sabha

The North Eastern Tea Association (NETA) in association with Golaghat Dist. Small Tea Growers’ Association today organized an Interactive Meet on “how to bring more discipline to the green leaf trade” between the black tea producers and green leaf growers of Golaghat Dist., at the NETA Conference Room, Golaghat. Ginoria body found in Nagaland

The suspense over the abduction of businessman Kailash Ginoria came to an end with the recovery of his dead body at the tributary of Mikang River in Lungsang Basti under Bhandari Police Station in Nagaland located about three kilometers away from Merapani at around 9.30 am in the morning. Kailash Ginoria was kidnapped on 10th March from Jorhat town and since then Jorhat police has launched a massive search operation to trace Ginoria and in this connection had arrested fourteen suspects.
