Golds for Assam Karate players

Assam players won golds at the International Invitation Karate Championship 2013 held at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka on June 9.

The winners are Manjit Dihingia – 2 Golds, Raju Kachari – 1 Gold, Dipu Tanti – 1 Gold and Sushmita Paul – 1 Gold.

Koliabor Congress candidate and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav Gogoi has exercise his franchise in Jorhat in the morning.Accompanied by his wife, Gaurab arrived in his booth at DC Baruah Girls HS School in No 103 ward of Jorhat town and waited for the moment for half and hour.Finally, he casted his vote at 7-45 in the morning. Talking to reporters after casting his vote, Gogoi said that his party would be able to show a commendable performance this time.Later, he left for Koliabor to visit the polling booths where he is contesting as the Congress candidate.     
Tezpur Congress candidate Bhupen Bora has casted his vote. Bora arrived in his booth in Bihpuria immediately after polling began at 7 in the morning.Bora is facing keen contest with BJP candidate RP Sarma and AGP candidate Joseph Toppo. Mani Kumar Subba, who is undergoing treatment of cardiac ailment is contesting as an independent candidate after the Congress denied ticket to the three times MP from Tezpur.The counting will take place on May 16.
Union minister and Dibrugarh Congress candidate Paban Singh Ghatowar has exercised his franchise at his nearest polling booths.Accompanied by his wife Jibon Tara Ghatowar, the Union minister arrived at the polling booth at Moran even before the polling had began. Ghatowar is locked in a keen contest with his nearest rival BJP candidate Rameswar Teli.

Amid watertight security arrangement polling in Koliabor constituency is holding to decide on the fate of 13 candidates on Monday.Polling began at 7 in the morning to end at 4 in the afternoon in 1772 booths heavily guarded by over 5,000 security me.
