Assam Congress president Bhubneswar Kalita is likely to seek re-election to the Rajya Sabha.
According to top sources, Kalita, whose term will expire on April 13 is all set to file his nomination before the returning officers in Dispur on Monday two days after he got green signal from the party high command.
He is expected to be the party’s first choice candidate for the polls slated for February 7.
In yet another significant development, the party is believed to have finalised nomination of Kirip Chaliha as the third choice. A circle of legislators have been lobbying for the former Lok Sabha MP for the last couple of months.
