Advancement of health services

(C-DAC). The Kolkata based group conducted a workshop on Health Care Knowledge System at the Academic Hall of the Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Guwahati on Thursday. It aims at highlighting the increasing use of computer and
software techniques through empowering public with Health Knowledge in the state.

According to the group, senior health and family welfare department officials along with the officials from the AIDS control society, NRHM and IT

Professionals attended the meeting. More than seventy professionals participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, C-DAC Kolkata Scientist Goutam Kumar Saha said that the concept maps based on the health Care Knowledge system software is available through
internet.

Saha further said that the web-enabled concept map based health care knowledge system provides organized healthcare knowledge toward quick understanding of disease symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
Thousands of pages of medical, healthcare information have been transformed into about 350 pages of semantic networks and concept maps showing important health objects and its relationships.

He said the software Kiosk has already been installed in major Medical Colleges & Hospitals and Community Health Centres in all the eight North Eastern states.

Medical College, Cachar District, Katlichara Health Centre, Arunachal State Hospital –Naharlagun, Rama Krishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, RIMS-Imphal-Manipur Medical College, Civil Hospital, Aizawl- Mizoram, NEIGRIHMS, Meghalaya, Central Referral Hospital, Sikkim, Naga Hospital, DHS-NRHM
Nagaland, Agartala Govt Medical College, Tripura,  CHCs etc.

The Health Care Knowledge System is also accessible free of cost through the RIMS Imphal website, RIPANS- Aizawl, Directorate of Health Services-Gov of Mizoram,
NRHM-Govt of Tripura Website, Silchar Medical College Websites, Agartala Govt Medical College, NEIGRIHMS Medical College-Shillong etc.

The Assam Government officials have shown keen interest to deploy the CDAC’s Health Care Knowledge System in all districts of the state towards controlling the Burden of Diseases in Assam through this innovative eHealth solution for empowering Public with Health Care Knowledge towards preventing diseases in the state. The workshop has been found to be a very interactive one.
Participators including Prof.  N C Bhattacharya, Dr B K Duara, Dr N K Hazarika, Dr Arundhati Deka have praised the project and Workshop.

Patrial withdrawal of AFSPA

New Delhi: The Centre has withdrawn AFSPA  1958 from 24 districts in view of an improved law and order situation. According to the notification, it would come into force from April 1,2022. Apart from the hills districts, AFSPA will be in force in Sivasagar, Jorhat,  Tinsukia.  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the Centre for the decision and hoped that the Act would be a thing of the past for the entire state in the near future. 

Assam,Meghalaya claim border row

New Delhi: Assam and Meghalaya claimed to have settled an interstate border dispute in 6 places at a meeting of Chief Ministers with the Union's home minister in New Delhi on Tuesday. The agreement was formally signed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta  Biswa Sarma and his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma after a meeting that evening. MLA upset of ruling on cross voting

Guwahati: Independent MLA from Sivasagar has strongly objected to the state assembly Speaker’s ruling on cross voting in the Rajya Sabha polls. Gogoi said that it was not proper for the Speaker to say that nobody could be disqualified for cross voting in the Rajya Sabha polls. He further alleged the partial role of Assembly Speaker Biswajeet Daimary, accusing him of disrupting the Opposition party MLAs.    

MLA alleges open killing, demands probe

Guwahati: Amid an uproar in the assembly on Monday over the alleged incidents of police ‘encounter’, independent MLA Akhil Gogoi demanded a judicial probe into each of the incidents. Participating in the brief but heated discussion on the alleged incident, the legislator from Sivasagar said that these incidents have gone up during the last couple of months. GMC poll schedule likely to be revised

Guwahati: A mounting pressure from the major political parties is likely to force the state election authority to revise the schedule for the upcoming GMC polls slated for April 19.      Major political parties have moved state election offices demanding a revised schedule of GMC polls covering 60 wards in the capital city. TET teachers storm Guwahati

The Assam contractual teachers' association on Thursday staged a massive protest in support of various demands, including the regularization of jobs. Thousands of teachers who arrived from different parts of the state took part in the protest held in front of the Directorate of Elementary Education office in Kahilipara.
