KMSS activists flogged

Several people have been injured when policemen sprang upon a crowd of KMSS protesters in Titabor on Monday.

The incident took place in the afternoon when thousands of people were participating at a dharna in front of the Titabor SDO office demanding CBI probe into the alleged scam in the water supply scheme.

Protestors told Assam Times that despite repeated request the SDO was reluctant to receive their memorandum. “Policemen on duty started flogging us indiscriminately without any altercation. They lobbed tear gas shell at us and even resorted to blank firing,” they said.

But according to the police sources, the situation turned violent when a section of protestors started pelting stones at the securitymen.

Later police detained KMSS president Akhil Gogoi resulting in protest in the form of rail and road blockade across the state.
