An awareness programme and evacuation drill on disaster safety was conducted at Kokrajhar Girls’ Higher Secondary School to strengthen disaster preparedness and response awareness among students and teachers.

The programme was organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kokrajhar, with training and practical demonstrations provided by the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF), Kokrajhar, and Civil Defence Volunteers, in the presence of the Principal and Field Officer, DM.

The programme focused on key aspects of disaster safety, including earthquake preparedness, first aid and lightning safety measures. Students and teachers were sensitised to essential precautions and practical steps to be followed before, during and after a disaster, with emphasis on staying alert, remaining calm and responding appropriately during emergencies.

As part of the programme, an evacuation drill was conducted to provide students and teachers with hands-on experience in responding to an emergency situation. The drill demonstrated safe and orderly evacuation procedures, movement to a designated assembly point and the importance of following instructions and maintaining composure during a disaster.

The programme aimed to enhance disaster preparedness, awareness and response capacity among students and teachers while promoting a culture of safety, preparedness and resilience within the school community.
